What is ASTEC:

ASTEC is friendly, easy to access, free program that would educate adults on how to use technology. We know the importance of creating ways for individuals to access resources, programs, and services during hard times. We want to provide our community with knowledge and tools, facilitate a safe environment and a comprehensive learning process in their language with the objective to teach them how to use common technological devices to access resources.

Participants will learn on their own phones, tables or laptops. Instructors and volunteers will guide each individual through the learning process to ensure that no one is left behind. We believe it is vital to improve our communities ability to access services, resources, and educational material online.

2021 Program information:

To facilitate the learning process, we have design a class program where you will learn all the basic skills in just 6 classes:

    • Class 1: Know your device
    • Class 2: Know the internet
    • Class 3: websites
    • Class 4: e-mail
    • Class 5: Access services and resources online
    • Class 6: Social Media

Each class is one hour long, two times a week for three weeks. This year ASTEC will have 3 teaching cycles.

Bring your own devices!

Class Location: Beale Memorial Library, 701 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93301.

Class Time: 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

2021 Class Calendar:

1st Cycle: Mon. Sep. 27 | Wed. Sep. 29 | Mon. Oct 4 | Wed. Oct. 6 | Mon. Oct. 11 | Wed. Oct. 13

For You Farmworker, I Walk!

For You Farmworker, I Walk!

After 30 days of walking from dawn till dusk and after 531 miles, Santiago Nieto has concluded his epic walk-a-thon across California. His walk began on September 16 at the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles, CA. and has reached its end a month after on October 16 at the Capitol in Sacramento, CA.

Thanks to all your generous contributions we been able to raise $31,545.62 on behalf of our local farmworkers. We know the current needs generated by the pandemic are constantly changing and with this resource we intend to provide aid for our farmworkers in Kern, Tulare and Fresno Counties.

Our efforts don’t end with the walkathon, if you wish to contribute economically to facilitate services and aid to our farmworkers, you can continue to donate. At CSF Foundation we are committed to continue fighting for healthy and united communities.

The application period for this program has expired

Farm workers, packers, and individuals who work providing agricultural services in Kern, Tulare or Fresno Counties applied for aid during the months of November and December of 2020.

The program had limited funds and was a one-time assistance. Applicants could only do one application per family.

130 Individuals benefited from this program and acquired economic aid to pay essential services, rent, bills, and food; they also acquired access to health services, appointments with specialist and medical exams.

Thank you for your support and for helping us help others in our community!
